Theater is coming to the David Mikow Art Gallery!

We are very excited to announce that we are bringing theater to the gallery. For our first theater experience, we will present four performances of “comfort/drones,” an original play by Alan Kreizenbeck of UMBC. The play is based on the writings of Wallace Shawn and asks “What are the consequences of moral behavior?” After the performance, we hope to engage our guests in a lively discussion based on themes derived from the play. We expect that the play and discussion will last about an hour. Please join us as our community gallery continues to grow!

Please email Carolyn Forestiere, Political Science, if you would like to attend (forestie@umbc.edu). Attendance is limited to 25 guests per performance. Tickets are free of charge, but I will have a jar for contributions attendees may wish to make for the actors.

The dates are as follows. When emailing, please specify which date you would like to attend and how many tickets you require.

Friday, November 15: 7pm

Sunday, November 17: 7pm

Saturday, November 23: 7pm

Sunday, November 24: 7pm

Light refreshments will also be available.

New Skies

Our next opening on May 3rd (5-7pm) will feature the highly innovative paintings of Kimberly Haines, a recent graduate of the Visual Arts Department at UMBC. The show is entitled New Skies. Please join us for an evening of stargazing through the brushstrokes of a talented upcoming artist. As always, admission is free and open to everyone.

The next show, featuring work from The Light Ekphrastic, will be on February 22nd from 5pm to 7pm.

Our next show is going to be very different from our previous shows. For this show, Jenny O’Grady from The Light Ekphrastic (TLE), will present the artistic creations generated by the pairings of writers and artists. At 6pm, we will have a brief presentation about the creative process and guests will be able to ask questions about how the synergy between the written word and the visual product was created. Admission is free, all are welcome, and light refreshments will be provided. Please join us for what promises to be an interesting and engaging evening.
